(UNDER HEAVY RECONSTRUCTION; I beg for your patience, please)
HISTORY of the SUN CREST RESISTANCE UNIT:
The SCRU was founded shortly after the attacks on Nalbina Fortress 25 years ago by Zula von Dalmasca, a Rava Viera and former Knight of Dalmasca. This first iteration of the unit sought to publicly confront the Garlean forces with both words and steel. For their brazen efforts, some few were captured and executed. Many fell on the battlefield. Others gave up. But for each loss, another brave soulrose to take their place. Few of the Unit's original members remain, and the SCRU had to reassess how best to undermine the Empire's hold on Dalmasca. The SCRU then specialised in recon and precision strike-raids against supply chains, hiding most of their planning and prizes in a small meeting room hidden in the Barheim Brewery's cellars. It was through these missions that the Unit first learnt of Warrior of Light's involvement in the East.No longer able to do battle and better suited to politics, Zula left to track down the fabled Warrior and helped General Fran secure them passageway into the Orbonne Monastery deep within the Golmorre Jungle. During this mission, Zula learnt of the Lady Ashe's continued existence, the whereabouts of his second in command Emery Rossler, and the dangers of auracite -- a type of crystal their R&D lead had been attempting to artificially manufacture into something he called nethicite. This signalled another much-needed shift in direction for the Unit once again: Gideon's research was condemned as far too dangerous, and the SCRU would instead focus on two main objectives: reuniting with other Resistance Units to form something of a cohesive front; and securing foreign aid to drive the Imperials out once and for all.
OOC OVERVIEW of the SUN CREST RESISTANCE UNIT:
OOC-ly every character listed on this carrd is played by the same person who really should have stuck to writing fanfiction instead of spending so much money creating far too many alts. But with a passion for running events centred around Dalmasca, there simply weren't enough NPCs to go around, and thus many, many alts were born to tell the story of the Sun Crest Resistance Unit..In-game scheduled RP and walk ups/tells are welcome. I generally do not RP over Discord as a rule.
AFFILIATES of the SUN CREST RESISTANCE UNIT:
Gideon Rossler
Auracite Scholar and Nethicite Manufacturer
Name: Gideon Glabados Doxasia Rossler (Gideon Rossler@Balmung)
Age: 27
Occupation: Former squire, current researcher
Expertise: Auracite
Personality: Chaotic Neutral
Faith: Church of Kiltia - Zealous
Positive character traits: Intelligent - Athletic - Hero complex - Loyal - Efficient - Resourceful
Negative traits: Narcissistic - Paranoid - Prone to mood swings - Haughty - Demanding--The Rossler Family was once a line of priests who guarded the secrets of Ultima, a goddess descended and the creator of all Auracite. During times of great need, members of the Rossler family were able to safely beseech the aid of Ultima's power and the use of auracite. Such facts were kept secret even from the Rossler children until such times as they were needed.
Gideon is the youngest heir to the Rossler name, and though he was not meant to wield auracite, he came in contact with the Lucavi Adramelech and was transformed. It is only thanks to his lineage and the quick thinking of his companions that Gideon still lives, and in his original form.
He currently resides in the Shroud with his Keeper companion Sae'ra, their pet seal Howlite, and his spriggan assistant Diggy.
Gideon Rossler was born to a wealthy family of high nobility. Though he was in line for the Dalmascan throne, his claim was so far down the line and so tentative that it might as well not have mattered at all. Still, he wore his name with pride.Growing up he was best friends with Faenish Cadfael and Tumelo Zertinan. They were of comparable age, and though their personalities and interests varied wildly they were thick as thieves. As a young boy he was tutored and schooled to become a squire and eventually a Knight -- though Livia sas Junius's famous raid against Dalmasca quelled any such dreams of being Knighted... particularly after Gideon was the young man who unknowingly aided in her arrival. With his Kingdom in ashes and smothered by fear, and with his brother's disappearance, Gideon fled Dalmasca entirely with the help of Zula, a Viera Knight and the General of the Sun Crest Resistance Unit. Since Gideon could not save his country, he sought to save his missing older brother instead. And it was here that Gideon first learnt of auracite. Thus grew his obsession, which fueled his encounter with the Lucavi, Adramelech, the Scion Urianger, and Garlemald's resident auracite expert.Gideon has since cut ties with the Resistance, since his obsession with auracite and the powers they possess endanger the rest of the unit. But every now and then he can't help but reach out and grant aid in an attempt to make amends for his past transgressions.
Diggy is Gideon's live-in assistant. Diggy once lived in Central Thanalan with a talent for finding rocks a fair bit more showy than the other spriggans, who were much more fond of clay and boulders. The Spriggan was approached by Gideon, who wished to trade coin for the beastman's collection. But Diggy declined, because Diggy has no use for coin. Both impressed and frustrated with the spriggan's business model, Gideon instead offered him a job assisting him in unearthing, polishing, and otherwise working with all sorts of rare gems, rocks, and crystals. Diggy, naturally, was delighted and soon became best friends with 'Giddy'. Diggy mostly dusts off Gideon's massive collection, and at times fetches gems when asked. He's very quick to pocket anything new when the two go on excursions, and has been a helpful hand indeed in identifying new ores.
Although Diggy is considered a lesser beastman by Eorzeans, Gideon and the other Dalmascans treat him as they would any other Spoken person.
Adrammelech the Esper. Once, the auracite he dwelt within likewise dwelt in the grasp of one Gideon Rossler.
During Gideon's ceaseless hunt for his brother Emery, he came across a clue that Emery's soul had been trapped within auracite. Soon after, he came across a chunk of auracite containing a soul -- that of the Zodiac Esper, Adrammelech.
But Adrammelech saw a chance to free himself, and whispered to Gideon that he was the missing brother, taking the memories from Gideon's heart and twisting them. Fully convinced, Gideon brought the auracite to Orbonne Monastery that Adrammelech might feast upon both his and the slain Ultima's power and become whole again.
Once in the ruins, the Esper reached out and sank his claws into Gideon's soul, possessing him in mind and body both to exalt in his Wroth.
The ensuing battle against the SCRU nearly claimed Gideon's life, but at last Adrammelech's soul was expelled from his body and trapped once again within the auracite. But the scuffle awoke a soul slumbering in that dank cavern -- that of Emery Rossler, Gideon's missing brother.
With Emery rescued, Ultima slain, and Adrammelech bound to his auracite prison once more, the SCRU sealed the cavern entrance behind them, only to run into Gabranth's legion of soldiers at the newly-collapsed exit. Wounded from their battle with Adrammelech, they ran -- leaving the IVth Legion to excavate the ruins and find the Lucavi's auracite.
That was the last they would see of Adrammelech -- or so the SCRU had hoped. But during their parley with the Bozjan Resistance they learnt of a Lucavi sighting on the Bozjan Front, near Castrum Licas Litore.
Adrammelech had returned, this time possessing Sadr rem Albeleo of the IVth Legion. Feeling in part responsible for the Lucavi's appearance, Zula, Gideon, and Emery joined the battle on the Front at the Castrum to bring down Adremmelech once and for all.
Tumelo Zertinan
Brewery Front and Supply Chain Manager
Name: Tumelo Zertinan
IGN: Tumelo Zertinan@Zalera
Age: 25
Occupation: Sundries Vendor and Barkeep at Barheim Breweries in Rabanastre. Runs a secret meeting room for the Resistance.
Expertise: Scrapyard Magitek Repair
Faith: Church of Kiltia - Shallow
Personality: Chaotic Good
Positive character traits: Loyal - Efficient - Resourceful - Caring
Negative traits: Easily heated - Lacking confidence - ShallowThe Zertinan Family does not exist. Tumelo was distantly descended from the Ivalician Heiral line on her mother's side, and a line of Thavnairian merchants on her father's side. Her fortunes were stripped from her when her family was executed for publicly aiding the Resistance against the Empire.Tumelo is friends with Faenish Cadfael and Gideon Rossler. She runs Tumelo's Sundries and the Barheim Brewery now located in Rabanastre. (It was once located in the Barheim passageways leading to Nalbina Fortress).
Tumelo Zertinan was born in Rabanastre to a wealthy Dalmascan mother and her Thavnairian husband (another wealthy merchant). They were disgusted by the Garlean invasion and made no secret of helping the Resistance. For their crimes, they were publicly executed. Tumelo had not been at home that day, and narrowly escaped death herself. Instead, her childhood friend Faenish Cadfael helped disguise her and gave her a job as their maid under a different name (Zertinan).
Having lost all claim to her family's fortune, she went to work like any other orphan lucky enough to find an honest job, and opened Tumelo's Sundries as an adult. When she continued to hear customers' lamentations that Barheim Brewery had closed down, the entrepreneur dedicated a corner of her shop to reopening the beloved bar within Rabanastre itself. Soon enough, she dedicated a hidden portion of the back rooms to create a secret meeting room for the Resistance, carrying on her parents' legacy -- without the beheading.
Aside from running the shop and bar, Tumelo spends her spare time (when she has any) repairing magitek 'junk' people try to hawk at her store front. These are in turn given to the Resistance for use, if they're not confiscated by the occupying Garlean soldiers first.
A NOTE ABOUT THE BREWERY: The secret meeting room for the Resistance is secret to everyone -- including untested 'Resistance Members'. Tumelo will outright deny anything to do with the Resistance and will threaten to report people to the Garleans for sedition if they mention the Resistance to her in public or in her shop/bar. If you want to be allowed into the back room, you must first show her a suncrest (a now-forbidden symbol in Dalmasca, according the lorebook) AND either be in the company of a 'known' (to her) member of the Resistance, or do an errand for her first of her choosing. Only once she decides you can be trusted will you be allowed in, to protect not only herself but those few surviving Resistance units from Garlean spies or sympathisers.
Zula von Dalmasca
Emissary: Former General
Name: Zula von Dalmasca
Age: 100+
Occupation: Former Captain of the Order of the Dalmascan Knights; current General of the Sun Crest Resistance Unit.
Expertise: Battle Tactics and sword fighting
Faith: Church of Kiltia - Shaken
Personality: Neutral Good
Positive character traits: Loyal -Chivalrous - Valiant - Honourable - Considerate - Kind
Negative traits: Overprotective - Hyperfocused - Exacting--The name von Dalmasca denotes any Rabanastran noble of orphan or unknown origins. Once, Zula had a very different name much more suited to a life abiding by the Green Word. This name he keeps close to his heart, but none other than his village clan are gifted with its knowledge.Zula leads the Sun Crest Resistance Unit and is a legal ward of the Rossler brothers, whose parents were casualties during the raids led by Livia sas Junius. Though he takes his duties very seriously and executes them with a firm hand, underneath is a warm-hearted man who wishes only to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and to see Dalmasca free once more.He is permanently disabled, mostly deaf, and experiences aether sickness. These injuries cannot be healed even by the most talented.
Zula von Dalmasca was born under the boughs of the Rava village Difohr located deep within the Golmorre Jungle. Moments after leaving the village -- as all male Viera do -- his mentor was slain. Frightened, a young Zula (then called by a different name, which he no longer remembers) fled until he came upon the outkirts of the Wood itself, and saw naught but sand and horizon.A caravan of Knights had been passing through, and thought the sighting of a Viera auspicious for its rarity. But the child could not be consoled. A kindly Knight did then decide to sponsor the young lad, and brought him home to Rabanastre.Under this old Knight, Zula was given his current name, taught empathy, instructed in the manners of high society, and trained in the ways of becoming a squire. After decades -- much longer than any born Rabanastran -- Zula was then Knighted for his exceptional loyalty to the Kingdom of Dalmasca, his everyday acts of heroism for the people they served, and for his brilliance in tactics and swordplay. For decades he served in this capacity, rising in ranks and earning the trust of all those around him. When Nalbina fell under attack, his unit rushed to meet the Garleans. It was there that he suffered a devastating blow, crippling his hitherto unmatched battle prowess and deafening his long, famed ears.Zula now leads the Sun Crest Resistance Unit attacking Garlean supply chains and attempting to reunite with other resistance units. He has met with the Warrior of Light and leaders of countless nations to beseech their aid, trading his swordplay for a life of politicking and training able-bodied fighters willing to die for a free Dalmasca.
Emery Rossler
Lieutenant: Tactical Combat
Name: Emery Heios Ajora Rossler (Emery Rossler@Balmung/Diabolos)
Age: 39; appears ~25
Occupation: Knight; Captain of the Sun Crest Resistance Unit
Expertise: All-Rounder
Faith: Church of Kiltia - Shaken; Church of Glabados: Rising
Personality: Neutral Good
Positive character traits: Intelligent - Athletic - Loyal - Resourceful - Patient - Beatific
Negative traits: Hesitant--The Rossler Family was once a line of priests who guarded the secrets of Ultima, a goddess descended and the creator of all Auracite. During times of great need, members of the Rossler family were able to safely beseech the aid of Ultima's power and the use of auracite. Such facts were kept secret even from the Rossler children until such times as they were needed.Emery is the eldest heir to the Rossler name, and was sent by the Dalmascan Royal Family to entreat Ultima for aid.Unfortunately his soul was instead trapped in a crystal, which intended to feed off his aether to create a powerful new Lucavi. It is only thanks to his lineage and the dedication of his younger brother Gideon, and Gideon's research partner Sae'ra Noyeme, that Emery was found and his soul retrieved from its crystalline prison years after his soul had been captured, looking no older than the day he'd left the Royal City of Rabanastre for that ill-fated mission.Emery is currently learning to lead the Suncrest Resistance Unit under the advisory of Zula von Dalmasca, Viera Knight.
Emery Rossler was born to a wealthy family of high nobility. Though he was in line for the Dalmascan throne, his claim was so far down the line and so tentative that it might as well not have mattered at all. Still, he wore his name with pride. As a young boy he was and schooled to become a squire and eventually a Knight. He swiftly became top in his class along with his two closest friends. But those friends met an unfortunate end during a clash with Livia sas Junius.Emery was soon sent out on a secret mission to entreat the Goddess Ultima's aid against the oppressive Empire. It was a mission that Emery all but failed, becoming instead trapped in auracite rather than being granted power for the Kingdom to use in winning its freedom.Even after being extracted, Emery was noticeably different: his earlier confidence and take-charge personality had waned with the colour of his eyes, which were now pale and nigh colourless. And -- as souls cannot age without their bodies -- he reappeared looking exactly the same age as when he'd first been captured.Still, with Zula von Dalmasca disabled and dedicated to politicking, the Sun Crest Resistance Unit needed a new General. Emery is slowly donning the mantle of leader, preferring instead the title of Lieutenant and deferring to Zula's wisdom in many matters. One day, however, he will be a great and fair leader of the peoples -- whether as a nobleman or as a warrior.Until then, he will continue his duties to the Resistance, attacking Garlean supply trains and attempting to reunite with the other resistance units still in action.
Faenish Cadfael
Reconnaissance Spy
Name: Faenish Cadfael
Age: 28
Occupation: Spy
Expertise: All-Rounder
Faith: Church of Kiltia - Fairly Religious
Personality: Neutral Good
Positive character traits: Adaptable - Resourceful - Intelligent - Caring
Negative traits: Spy--The Cadfael Family was renowned for its old money and mercantile wealth. The family home fairly gleamed beneath the desert sun. But when the Imperials came, they were forced to open their doors to Garlean officers. It was only by the grace of the Legatus that they were permitted to stay on the estate at all with their newfound guests.Faenish is the only son and eldest child, but grew up with six younger sisters. He takes his role of eldest sibling very seriously, doing whatever it takes to protect his family with nary a hint of complaint. His family took in Tumelo Zertinan under the guise of maid when her parents were executed. Though neither of them know it yet, these two are a soul-bonded pair destined for each other.
Faenish Cadfael was born to a family of nigh unsurpassed wealth. One would never guess it, judging by his humble and down-to-earth personality. He was enrolled as a squire in the same year as Gideon Rossler, and the two became fast friends. His neighbour, Tumelo, would often catch them sparring in the luxurious gardens and played referee to many a match between them. When tragedy struck, it was the Cadfael family who 'adopted' Tumelo. And when an uprising went wrong, it was Faenish who stayed behind to smuggle the sons and daughters of wealthy families looking for a safe way out of Rabanastre. With the Knights entirely disbanded and having found his true calling, Faenish adopted the role of The Spy. His amicable nature allows him to blend in anywhere with anyone, swapping roles between conscripted Imperial officer, Lea Monde vinyard worker, destitute refugee, high class nobleman, and Resistance operative at the drop of a gil.He taught his two closest friends how to adopt entirely new personas to stay safe: Tumelo became a barkeep with the pseudonym Zertinan; and Gideon became obsessed with donning (poor) disguises.Protecting the ones he loves, after all, is worth fighting, lying, and dying.
Jule Difohr
Golmore Contact
Name: Jule Difohr (Jule Difohr@Mateus)
Age: 200+
Occupation: Sky Pirate
Expertise: Spear, Bow, salve making
Faith: Green Word
Personality: Neutral Good
Positive character traits: Loyal - Courageous - Determined
Negative traits: Callous - Fierce--The Difohr Village, named after the ancient land in which it inhabits, is home to a tribe of Rava Viera along the jungle border between Dalmasca Inferior, Valnain, and Nagxia. While Difohr residents are fierce and strict by outside standards, other Rava tribes consider them dangerously lax and far too welcoming of outsiders. Thanks to the Difohran mindset of 'Enlightenment Through Exchange,' non-Viera trade is welcomed in this village. It acts as a port of call for most walks of life, and even some curious Rava from other villages will come to browse their bustling markets. But ware ye who would wield weaponry inside the village, for Difohr archers stand ready to shoot down all those who would seek to disturb.
Jule Difohr was born in Difohr Village to the elder salvemaker. At first the only child, she was joined by a younger brother after a century's turn. But her brother left the Wood, and the GreenWord no longer whispered of his whereabouts when he fled where She could not see.Fierce from an outsider's perspective, Jule was often reprimanded in the village for being too lax even for a Viera of Difohr. It was only her mother's reputation and her own talent for salve making that protected her.But when her little brother returned after a century with a small retinue, and accidentally led a cohort of Imperials close to their village, Zula was exiled for good: given a gossamer white veil to wear, and left as a spirit in the night.Having housed Zula and his injured crew in their treetop nest for the night, dishonour came upon Jule's mother. But she would not see her elderly matron exiled, as well: instead, Jule took up a life of exile as penance, and soon after followed her brother from the Wood. Her travels took to Lea Monde, where she fell in with a group of Sky Pirates. At first she merely leant her talents in exchange for passage across the sea. But Jule soon grew to love the sky nearly as much as she loved the Wood, and couldn't find it in her to part with the ragtag crew. She now sails the skies looking for treasure and her brother both, but somehow seems to find only trouble.

Name: Fhjrn Rava
IGN: Fhjrn Rava@Balmung
Age: 23
Occupation: Green Mage Field Medic
Expertise: Dancing
Faith: None
Personality: Chaotic Good
Positive character traits: -
Negative traits: ---Rava was the name Fhjrn's father left her, and the only clue she had to her half-Viera blood. It was thanks to her meeting with Emery that she was introduced to Zula von Dalmasca, who taught her something of where she came from.Since joining the Resistance, Fhjrn has largely given up dancing for Ul'dahns in order to swing an unwieldly hammer in the practise of Green Magic. She now heals the many hurts of the Sun Crest Resistance Unit, but at times she might get carried away and hurt more than she heals. After all, it's so fun to swing a mallet.
Fhjrn Rava was born in the Black Shroud to a Keeper mother and a wayfaring Rava sire. The coupling resulted in a strangely shaped girl: ears longer than a miqo'te's, but not so long as a Viera's; a miscoloured nose; eyes too large for her face; a bobbed tail that looked like a hare's. Her misshapen features set her apart from the rest of her village, but worse than their scathing comments were the voices she could hear from the Woods themselves.Nearly driven mad by the voices, Fhjrn left her Keeper village to seek out the advice of a Gridanian Hearer. But they, too, judged her for her looks and her heritage, having little love for miqo'te already. She ran then to Thanalan, where the voices of the Woods would hopefully be quieter. And it was there she ran into Lord Emery Rossler. He commented not on her misshapen features nor her frenzied fervour to escape the voices.Instead he offered her a place among his little family in the Resistance, having a keen eye for talent and tenacity when he saw it. Thanks to him, Fhjrn was able to start her life anew with confidence and pride. And she would do anything to repay that debt.

Faith: Menphina's Keeper
Personality: True Neutral
Positive character traits: -
Negative traits: ---Mikh'li Rabntah is a delivery boy. Regrettably a bit dim but generally sweet (at least to other Keeper men), this adult lad is wary of most strangers, terrified of both Elezen and Keeper women, and fond of keeping out of sight. His scrappy but rather ignorant nature makes him an ideal runner for plenty of folk -- Resistance and Imperials alike. He doesn't ask too many questions where work is involved, but the moment it's personal, watch out: he'll talk a malm a minute.
Mikh'li Rabntah grew up in a den nestled in the wooded areas of La Nosea. His parents had started their own clan and beget many, many children -- in the middle of which was Mikh'li, the third son in a litter of 14 kits. He was born with the Mark of Menphina upon his brow, which his parents took as a lucky sign. And so he was protected and sheltered perhaps moreso than the other kits, until the day Mikh'li chanced upon a wandering mage.Mikh'li was banished from his tribe, considered too dangerous to live amongst his family any longer. And so this miqo'te set forth into the wider world, swearing off most magicks and chasing the singular dream of one day meeting the Warrior of Light. His only talents lie in delivering parcels largely unnoticed, boasting the tenacity of a flea, and the ability to summon 3 carbuncles at once. They're not good for much more than company and pop out of existence seemingly at will, and Ruby is particularly temperamental.. but they're the only friends Mikh'li has got.
